In this painting, a cherry is dipping its foot into the cherry cosmo below…just testing the waters, so to speak, before jumping in. (On Godard’s World, the cherries, unlike the olives are sexless.) I think the cherry cosmo originated in New York City and Elly is from New York City, so I did this piece because I was thinking about her. It represents my very shy wife testing the waters with me before we got together.
